Another day, another ass kicking. Back, shoulders, & abs 👍💪 sore but still a super happy panda 🐼 #fit #fitspo #fitness #powerhouse #back #shoulders #abs #weights #lift #weightlift #body #happy #love
My entire body feels sore but at the same time I feel like a beast. I lifted more weight today than I ever have, which just goes to show that sometimes you don’t even know what your body can do. Lifting more than I ever have, and doing multiple reps of it, is such an amazing feeling.
My back is going to be so sore later but my abs are already in pain, they were sore to begin with so what did I really expect? All I know is that crunches where you extend further than 180 degrees are intense. Despite the pain I’m kind of excited to do it again soon.
On top of the weights and abs I did, there was also my 35 minute warm up on the treadmill. If I learned anything from the half marathon it was that I need to do more hill training. This morning I did a 4 minute warm up at incline 12 then for the next 26 minutes I switched the incline up varying between 15-21 the whole time. I would do long, walking strides so that I could really feel it in my booty, then I would speed it up a little bit so I was walking quickly uphill. The last 4 minutes was spent cooling down at incline 9-12. I usually stayed around 3mph but when I was going faster I bumped it up to 4mph. All I have to say after that “warm up” is that my booty and hamstrings are on FIREEEE.
Now … time for coffee, oatmeal, and a great day of work. BOOM!!

My workout from Friday, June 1, 2012!!!
So Thursday night/Friday morning I could not sleep for the lift of me. My boyfriend is sick, so he was up coughing all night, and I was just tossing and turning and could not get my brain to just shut off and go to sleep. Around 4:30 am I had finally had enough and decided that I would just get up and go to the gym.
I remember thinking when I got to the gym just around 5 am “I don’t have to be to work until 8-o-clock, am I really going to be able to find enough stuff to do here that will keep me busy for two hours?” Honestly, I thought I would end up sitting in the sauna for an hour or something like that just to kill time … but I’m happy to report that, that is not what happened (obviously).
Getting started was rough for me, I was moving slow and my pre-workout drink (Jack3d) didn’t seem to be doing much either, but that didn’t last too long!! After my warm-up on the bike I wandered around for a bit contemplating my next move and decided to head over to the cable machines to do some exercises I had skipped in my previous workouts throughout the week.
And that is when the fun really began.
The workout I posted I edited so that the exercises were all grouped into different categories (as you can see; warm-up, cable machines, free weights, and abs), but I did not do the exercises in these order, necessarily.
I did the entire workout as a circuit and varied the exercises I was doing in each set. For example, one set of exercises that I did was abdominal twists w/ 12 lbs medicine ball, push-ups on the weight bar, and then dips using the bench with one leg raised. I would complete one individual set of each exercise, move to the next one, and repeat until I had rotated through each exercise a total of 3 times.
Things I noticed doing my workout this way:
I also started the Mean Abs June plan (I actually found it on another fitspo blog and reposted it a couple days ago on here) and I’m so excited to continue it this month!!
I’m finally being able to see some actual changes in my body from all of the hard work I’ve been doing. People have been telling me that they notice the changes but it always takes longer for people to notice what is different about themselves, I feel.
My legs are so much more toned and defined then they were a couple of months ago.
My arms are becoming more defined by the day it seems now and I actually have BICEPS. Real life, able to touch, biceps. Push-ups are also getting to be easier for me to complete; I remember when I first started working out and training that I could barely finish 3 sets of 8 push-ups on the weight bar, now I’m doing one-armed push-ups!!! AMAZING!! So happy.
I. HAVE. ABS. Real, legit, able to see, abs. And I’m in love with them. I know that anyone who knows anything about fitness and health will tell you that abs are made in the kitchen, but I’ve always eaten well and taken care of myself in that aspect I feel. I’ve been able to feel my abs for years, I knew that they were there, but now that the little layer of fat that was on top of them is going away you can actually see them. And they look DAMN GOOD.
Well … this is it for now. Happy thoughts going out to everyone!!
HAPPY FITNESS!! :D
Nike Training Club is amazing; These exercises are from their “Get Focused” section of workouts and I believe is called “Ab Blaster”. I do this all the time when I get into a rut with my ab workout.
